Progress 2 - The World Food Problem

This is the second report on the reading progress of "The World Food Problem". In the last report , I explained the difference between undernutrition and malnutrition. This time, I will be explaining how researchers around the world tried to measure the extent of hunger .  There has been numerous attemps to measure the extent of hunger in the past, both nationally and internationally. However, it was very difficult to measure it precisely due to its difficulty and complexity of the conducted surveys. The First World Food Survey by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was first conducted in 1946, and there hasn't been much reliable datas before than that. 2023 World Food Day in Russia

For the World Food Day assignment, I searched about Russia's activity on the internet. Unfortunately, I could not find much about Russia's activity itself due to the flooding information of Russia-Ukrain war related articles, but that is also a strongly relevant topic when it comes to world hunger. Thus, I am going to introduce you all what I found during my research. Is Russia helping world hunger? As of 2023, the answer was no as far as I researched. Russia's Ukraine invasion has largely disrupeted world's trading , along with the reduction of agricultural production in Ukraine. This could have or maybe even did damage the economy and food distribution in vulnerable countries related to this trading. At the United Nation's Security Council, Russia was pressured to revive Ukrainian grain shipments and avert the global food crisis by developing countries, western nations and even its ally China. Hungry Planet - Australia

On 12/7 I did a presentation about an Australian family and their food consumption featured on the book called Hungry Planet in the english class, and I thought it would be a great idea to share it in this blog, so here we go. The pictures above show the typical Australian foods . You may have heard about Vegemite , the fermented spread, but there are much more than just that! Timtam , the chocolate bar is a classic Australian snack, and just like in Great Britain they eat meat-pies, fries, burgers, and grilled chicken .
